meet our volunteers

The Media Department is blessed to have people who are dedicated enough to give more than 1,400 hours every year to produce every morning and evening worship service, seasonal dramas, ministry events, Vacation Bible School, choir events and all the rehearsals in-between. We also do the weddings and funerals that occur at Red Bank Baptist Church.
In the past, one person could come in, turn the lights on, fire up the sound board and get the microphones ready. Those days are gone and this is no longer a one-person show. Since 2003, our duties tripled which means our staff had to grow.
God bless our people for being here before anyone else and staying later than most. God bless you for giving up your Sunday mornings, your Sunday evenings, your Friday nights and your Saturdays when needed.

John Jordan

John's position at Red Bank is Audio Guy 1 and he's the only full-time volunteer handling sound duties. John is one of those people you can count on though. He'll do whatever it takes to make the sound you hear as good as it can be. His biggest test is balancing 7 microphones and a CD track for the Praise Team during Sunday morning service!
He may try to tell you he doesn't know a lot about all the equipment we use but don't let him fool you. For someone with just a few years experience, he does a great job. Plus, he's always eager to learn and that makes him a valuable asset. Thank you, John for all you do for Red Bank Baptist Church.
When you see him around, be sure to say "Hello" to him. He's one of the good guys and will do just about anything he can to help you.
John makes his living driving a big truck full of steel for N.B. Handy to various locations in Georgia and South Carolina.
So what's the story with the picture above? That's how John learns. He's got to see it for himself and get his hands on the problem.

Sharon Jordan

Ask our Pastor, Butch Powell, about Sharon and he'll say "This department would go right down the drain if Sharon wasn't up here to keep the men straight!" Thank you Butch!
Sharon is a full-time volunteer and I've given her the position of Presentation Queen. That makes her responsible for most of what you see on the projection screen during service. Several of us can run the projection system but she does a much better job of getting the right slide on the screen at the right time.

One talent you don't see is when one of our projects needs to be planned and organized. Nobody does it better. Her first trial by fire came after she and John came to Red Bank Baptist in 2004. It was The Cross, our Easter drama. Sharon took it upon herself to re-write the script with all the music and lighting cues. Basically, she created a production script that simplified what each of us had to do and when. With five of us working upstairs during The Cross, this was an invaluable tool that we will continue to use.
Sharon's full-time job is at Colonial Life where she generates detailed reports for Senior Management. Spreadsheets don't scare her at all.
Here's something special about Sharon; more specifically, her heart. She's always had hair down to her lower back but earlier this year, she cut if off and gave it away. That didn't happen without lots of tears but because it was being donated to Locks of Love, she pushed through the discomfort. They use human hair to make wigs for children under 18 with cancer.

Come join our team if you want to learn and come join our team if you are ready to serve. Technical skills are secondary to commitment.
